TTPS temporarily suspends issuance of Certificates of Character

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is advising members of the public that the issuance of Certificates of Character (CoC) has been temporarily suspended until August 17, 2020.

A statement issued on Wednesday noted that there are provisions for emergency situations. As such, citizens are urged to contact 627-5217 ext 12891 between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm from Monday to Friday.

The service is unavailable on weekends and Election Day.

Although no justification was given, the decision was likely made as a result of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

On July 28 the Police Administration Building and Riverside Plaza were closed for sanitisation after an officer tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

To date, the country has recorded 199 cases of the viral respiratory illness.
