Update: 46 new COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday

Update @ 6 pm: 

Eight more positive cases were recorded on Sunday bringing the number of confirmed cases to 1,691.

The Ministry of Health in its 6 pm clinical update indicated that the new positive cases are results from samples taken from August 22 to 29 and does not represent cases from the past 24-hour period only.

With these additional cases, T&T's active case count has risen to 998. 

The number of samples samples submitted to the Caribeean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19 now stands at 23,530, with 101 new samples submitted. 

No additional patients have been discharged since the Ministry's clinical update on Sunday morning.

Two additional COVID-19 deaths have been recorded.

The Ministry of Health in its clinical update on Sunday morning reported that two elderly men with comorbidities have died from the virus, pushing the number of related deaths to 21.

The number of confirmed cases has also risen, with 38 new positive results from samples taken from August 22 – 29. The count as of the latest update stands at 1,683 with 990 of those cases being active.

Eight hundred and seventy patients are in home isolation under the continuous monitoring of their respective County Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) offices. The Ministry indicated that the 38 new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.

Seventy-five patients remain at hospital – 59 (six at Intensive Care and seven at High Dependency) at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, and 16 at the Caura Hospital. Seven patients remain at step-down/transition facilities.

Eight more people have been discharged, bringing the total number of people discharged to 672.

To date, 23,429 samples have been submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19. Unique patient tests have been completed for 20,507 patients, with 2,922 of those tests being repeated.

The Ministry will issue another update at 6 pm.
