The United States Government has donated 1,000 KN-95 facemasks and 1,000 face shields to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service.

Ambassador Joseph Mondello presented the items to the Commissioner of Prisons Dennis Pulchan at the Embassy on October 13.

They both acknowledged the challenges the Prisons Service is facing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Mondello emphasised: “As we’ve stated repeatedly in our coordination to confront the pandemic, we must all do our part.”

“We’re honoured to continue assisting the government and people of Trinidad and Tobago in their efforts,” he added.

The US Government made a donation of face masks, contactless thermometers and other PPE to assist in the fight against COVID-19 in July.

The more than US$22,000 in PPE was distributed to first responders by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM).
