Washington DC gets Trinidad and Tobago Food Day

November 19, 2020, has been proclaimed Trinidad and Tobago Food Day in Washington DC. 

Public schools in Washington DC will commemorate the day by sampling food native to T&T. 

In a media release, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said different types of T&T cuisine will be distributed to children in public schools. 

“For the past two years, the Embassy has submitted recipes for pelau and Trinidad and Tobago-style curried chicken, which were featured in the widely-distributed D.C. Public School International Food Days cookbook.  

“Today, Trinidad and Tobago-style curried chicken will be distributed to District of Columbia Public Schools students and information on Trinidad and Tobago food will be shared across participating schools,” they said. 

Trinidad and Tobago is one of two countries to have a declared Food Day in Washington DC.
