Watch: Cops return to La Horquetta after $22M handed back to operator

Officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) returned to the home of an alleged pyramid scheme operator in La Horquetta on Wednesday.

It came hours after Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith launched a high-level investigation to determine who decided to return more than $22 million that was seized from the house on Kathleen Warner Drive, Phase I, La Horquetta.

 

The money was seized by SORT officers who executed a search warrant at a house where it was alleged that persons were operating a Pyramid Scheme.

The money was kept at a police station. 

It was handed back to the operator of the scheme on Wednesday without the knowledge of the Commissioner.

Eight suspects were also released while a ninth person was kept in custody for illegal possession of ammunition.
