WHYFARM to host 1st Agripreneur Summit in T&T

WHYFARM (We Help You-th Farm) is due to host Trinidad and Tobago’s 1st Agripreneur Summit at the Hyatt Regency next Tuesday.

The summit will bring together young entrepreneurs and innovators involved in the local agricultural industry.

Progressive young professionals who are making an indelible impact on the agri-value chain and the economy will be featured.

Alpha Sennon, Executive Director WHYFARM said the summit is part of the organisation’s overall mission to grow the future feeders of Trinidad and Tobago from the ground up.

The event will feature presentations and a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities to advance the agenda of agribusiness in Trinidad and Tobago.

“It will start a new type of conversation aimed at changing the attitudes and focus on agriculture,” he added.

The Agripreneur Summit will also mark the culmination of the 1st Agripreneur Mastermind Program (AMPitUP) in Trinidad and Tobago.

AMPitUP T&T is an eight-week intensive mastermind programme and competition to find Trinidad & Tobago’s next top Agripreneur.

The participants will deliver their final pitch at the summit in a bid to win over $50,000 in prizes provided by local and international collaborators. The top agripreneur will win a cash prize and an all-expenses paid trip to the 2020 Thought For Food (TFF) Global Academy and Summit in Asia.

The programme features 12 young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18- 35 years, committed to mastering their craft, taking their agribusiness to the next level and being agents of change for implementing solutions to the challenges of youth agripreneurs all over the world.

During the programme, the participants were provided with mentorship, taught fundamental lessons in entrepreneurship such as development of a strategic business plan, fund-raising, media development, social media engagement and so much more. They were also able to act on their new knowledge in weekly challenges.

WHYFARM is focused on pioneering Agricultural Educational Entertainment (Agri-edutainment) with a mission to promote the importance of sustainable agriculture among youth and children, build their capacity in Agricultural Entrepreneurship and empower them to contribute to achieving global food and nutrition security by the year 2050.

WHYFARM also developed AGRIMAN and PhotosyntheSista, the world’s 1st Food and Nutrition Security Superheroes. WHYFARM is a global movement and is currently in Haiti, Rwanda and Zambia. WHYFARM is 1 of 15 winners in the 2018 Misk Grand Challenges funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
