A woman police constable has been detained as investigators look into how a quantity of drugs and contraband items were found in a cell at the Port of Spain Central Police Station last week.
The woman was detained at her home in San Juan on Sunday by officers of the Port of Spain CID under the supervision of Snr Sup Ajith Persad.
According to police reports, a KFC bag, which contained a quantity of contraband items, were found in the police station on Friday morning in a cell which was next to one in which murder accused Andra Lavia was being housed.

Acting on information received earlier that night, a team of officers led by ASP Parriman visited a cell at the police station where they found the illegal items.
The items were seized, and searches were conducted of prisoners who were in nearby cells, however, nothing illegal was found.
